WHAT more do you need that some music to put a smile on your face?

That Joe Payne heads up this week’s playlist, fresh from his great set at Bracknell Pride earlier this month.

We think it’s the perfect tonic as we hit the midpoint in the year. Have a listen and see what you think.

It’s just one of 10 great tracks for your aural pleasure, and it’s available for free on Spotify. Our playlist is a mixture that will help you discover something new.

To hear this week’s selection, simply head to https://bit.ly/rawsoundstoday and enjoy the music.

There is also a Facebook page and group chat that bands and music fans can tap into. You can search for RaW Sounds Today and it will come up.

That Joe Payne – Falling in Love is Easy

Joe has become a friend to many in the local area following two solo appearances at Wokingham Festival in recent years and last week he visited Bracknell to perform a flamboyant uplifting set with his excellent band at the Pride Festival.

Here’s Joe’s latest single which, with its 80s feel and earworm chorus, will have you singing along with a big smile on your face.

It’s taken from his upcoming new album which is due for release later in the year – https://www.thatjoepayne.com/

Nell Bryden – Hail Mary

Here’s another song that will get you singing along. It’s a single from a singer-songwriter with a strong powerful voice as you can hear on this song, but which can also be beautifully mellow as showcased on the title song of her new Believe Again EP.

It is well worth a listen. Nell was born in New York but now lives In London and there’s a chance to see her live when she appears at Wokingham Music Club’s Whitty Theatre show on July 7 – https://www.nellbryden.com/

Jo Bartlett – Floating Through

We featured Jo, from Sandhurst, earlier in the year and she has just released this new single. It’s another good one and so definitely worthy of another inclusion.

Jo says that the song was inspired by a bout of sleep deprivation and with its dreamy feel created by synths, guitars and more she certainly conveys that feeling of floating between an awake and sleepy state – https://www.facebook.com/JoBartlettMusic

One Eyed Man – Been Up All Day

One Eyed Man, aka Stuart Hutton, has been going down well at festivals and gigs throughout the country. This is from his Solstice EP and he will be live at Wokingham Festival in August – https://www.facebook.com/TheOneEyedManOfficial

The Wave Machine – Break Away

He grew up in Wokingham and now lives in Cornwall. Here’s another of his wonderful singles and will be back in Wokingham to play live at The Grasshopper on July 20 – https://linktr.ee/thewavemachine

One Last Day – I’m Here To Stay (Acoustic)

There is a chance to see a stripped-back acoustic performance from this band not too far away, at High Wycombe HMV on Saturday, June 24 and their rock set at Wokingham Festival in August – https://linktr.ee/onelastday

The Two Ton Shoes – Weight of a Stone

This Reading-based trio’s debut single is an excellent slice of blues-based riff-laden rock. Watch out for more from them later in the year when they plan to release a full EP – https://linktr.ee/thetwotonshoes

Purple Grace – When I’m Not With You

A good new indie rock band from Reading. They will be at Wokingham Festival in August – https://www.facebook.com/purplegraceband

Echo Chambers – Lawnmowers of Suburbia

A blast of excellent anthemic melodic punk from another Reading band – https://linktr.ee/Echochambersrdg

Leoni Jane Kennedy – Tears

Leoni was so good last year on Wokingham Festival’s second stage that she has been invited back to play the main stage this year. Here’s one of her wonderful versions of a Rush classic – https://www.leonijanekennedy.com/
