HISTORY enthusiasts will have the chance to learn more about Reading Abbey at an upcoming guided tour.
Once one of Europe’s largest royal monasteries and home to Henry I in the 12th century, the landmark will host visitors on Sunday, September 24, for an event organised by Walk Reading.
Visitors will have the chance to learn why the Abbey was built in Reading, where Henry I is buried and what life was like in those days.
The tour will also explore how it developed over the years and why it is a ruin today.
Participants should meet at the Queen Victoria statue outside the Town Hall, Blagrave Street at 2pm.
Tickets are £9 and can be purchased online.
