A READING band is teaming up with a record store in Caversham for a new special edition physical release.

Home-grown purveyors of indie rock Third Lung have joined forces with Pop Classics for the release of their latest double single.

The band is set to drop two tracks, Pin Stripe Maroon, which released back in May, and new track Tic Tac, set to hit streaming services and download on Friday, August 23.

Pin Stripe Maroon garnered praise on BBC Radio 6, BBC Berkshire, and Amazing Radio.

It will be issued as part of the double-sided 7″ vinyl which will be exclusive to Pop Classics.

To celebrate the release, the band will also be performing outside the store on Sunday, August 25.

Third Lung has seen support from BBC Introducing as well as radio stations around the globe, having garnered Wigwam Radio’s Best Band of 2021 Award.

Store owner Damian Jones said that the opportunity was “too cool to miss.”

Lead singer and songwriter Tom Farrelly said the team-up is: “Simply the coolest thing we’ve ever had the privilege to be a part of.

“When Cams first cooked this up, we figured, as an independent band, it would be the funding that would stop us from getting this off the ground.

“Then Damien jumps in, puts his money where his mouth is, and backs a local band–it doesn’t get more legit than that.

“It reminds me of those little independent record stores you read about in the 50’s, recording the local artists out that back and selling the wax out the front.”
