YEAR 11 cohorts at Theale Green School are celebrating this morning after receiving their GCSE results.

Eager students picked up their results from the Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ school this morning, having waited anxiously over the summer.

This group of GCSE entrants transitioned to Theale Green School in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic but have not allowed that to prevent them from achieving great success. They have grasped every opportunity with both hands and were the first group to achieve their Duke of Edinburgh award since the school became an approved centre.

Furthermore, this group includes a significant number of refugee students who arrived in the country with little or no English and who have immersed themselves within the school community.

The school, in Theale, Reading, is extremely proud of all its students, who have shone in so many ways; academically, in sports, and the arts and by being active members of the school community. Hard work and focus have led four of its students; Alastair Cox, Daisy Cooke, John Kwok, and Elizabeth Roscoe, to achieve 22 top grade 8 and 9 results between them.

Headteacher at Theale Green School, Charlotte Badarello, said: “Our incredible group of students thoroughly deserve the excellent results they have achieved today despite significant disruption during the key transition point of moving to secondary school.

“They have left a lasting mark on our school, as they were the first of our new group of Theale Green School prefects.

“They used this opportunity to act as role models for younger students and to shape the school experience for students in years to come.”

The school’s vision is to Transform Lives Through Learning.

Teachers look forward to welcoming their new cohort of Year 12 students into the school’s Sixth Form in September to continue its upward trend of results.

The school wishes well to all those going on to other post 16 destinations, and is continuing to support students by providing information, advice and guidance on GCSE results day.
