Reading FC manager Ruben Selles admitted that the ownership saga is not an ‘excuse’ for results on the pitch.
The Royals were beaten for the second consecutive game which sees them drop down to 16th following their heavy defeat at Bolton.
“We came here ready. We know the situation we are in and will not use it as an excuse,” said Selles, speaking to BBC Radio Berkshire after the match.
“We’ve been there before. Unfortunately the circle is repeating and the support to this team and the staff is non-existent from the club.
“That’s the reality. There will be a moment that we will not be able to cope. But it’s not the point of why we didn’t win today.
“We knew it would be a difficult game. We conceded two penalties and a free-kick. We had some key moments to try and make it 3-2 with the goalkeeper making a good save against Amadou Mbengue and then things turned against us pretty quick.”
Selles also confirmed a bad looking injury for defender Jeriel Dorsett: “It looks uncomfortable. It looks like he will be out for some period of time.”
Meanwhile, he described Bolton’s two penalty decisions as ‘soft’, but praised the impact of full-back Kelvin Abrefa who replaced Dorsett after his injury.
He said: “Kelvin made a fantastic impact on the game. He knows we’ve been waiting for that performance. There’s a very good player there. He’s been training really well. He can replace Jeriel. We will manage the options that we have.”
