Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones labelled his team as a ‘disgrace’ for their defending after Reading FC defeated them 2-0 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Jones’ side went into the game with a perfect record having won their opening three matches in League One.
However, goals from Charlie Savage and Sam Smith ensured that Ruben Selles’ side took three points and handed the Addicks’ their first defeat.
Speaking after the game, Jones said: “Disappointing on all levels. Second-half we should have had a pen, a stonewall pen.
“Once they scored, it’s a very good strike from distance, sometimes that happens.
“The second goal is a disgrace from our point of view. An absolute disgrace, I’m raging. I’m raging with so much today. I’m raging off my nut.
“We should have had a pen. We didn’t. We were nowhere near the levels we should be.
“The second goal, whether it’s our throw or not, what happened after was a disgrace and what we did to effect that was a disgrace and I’ll address that.
“I feel sorry for them (the fans) today, they’ve been let down today.”
