AN OUT of this world experience is promised when a band perform in Reading next month.
The Meteors are an English psychobilly band often credited with giving the psychobilly subgenre — punk rock with rockabilly — its distinctive sound and style.
Hailing back to the punk era of the early 80s, they have had a string of hits including 1981 album In Heaven, and a follow-up in 1983, Wreckin’ Crew, leading to them being dubbed the godfathers of psychobilly.
Their fans are known as The Crazies, and pioneered a slam dancing routine known as wrecking.
Their Reading date will be a rare chance to see them live.
Support will come from Cumbrian-based Voodoo Radio, a two-piece who perform sassy and clever punk pop.
The gig is organised by Club Velocity, and it takes place on Good Friday, March 29, at The Face Bar in Chatham Street from 8pm. Tickets are already on sale.
