TWITCHERS will be welcomed for a new play, but not curtain twitchers, as this is all in the great outdoors.
Mikron Theatre is returning to Berkshire later this month for two performances of its new play, Twitchers.
Written by Polly Hollman, the show celebrates all things birds, birders and the RSPB.
Set during preparations for the RSPB Shrikewing nature reserve’s Springwatch event, audiences will meet raucous rooks, booming bitterns and plenty of tits.
Can Jess take inspiration from the RSPB’s tenacious female founders and draw on its history of campaigning to save them?
Can she find her own voice to raise a rallying cry for nature?
Polly says: “It’s a joy to write for Mikron and I’m delighted to be part of their 51st year of touring.
“Twitchers is about the RSPB, Europe’s largest conservation charity, and their struggles to protect birds and wildlife since 1889. The play offers a fun swoop into the colourful world of birds and birdwatching.
“Our feathered friends are the real stars of the show; you’ll see them flirting, bickering and making their own indelible impression on the plot.”
They say audiences will be giggling from heron in and you won’t ‘egret coming.
Mikron tours the country by historic narrowboat.
On Tuesday, July 25, they will perform the show at The Rowbarge in Station Road, Woolhampton. Then on Thursday, July 27, they will be at The Cunning Man in Burghfield Road.
Both shows start at 7pm, there is no reserved seating or tickets required. At the end of the show, there will be a ‘pay what you feel’ collection.
