READING band The Amazons has kicked off 2025 with a new single alongside one of the UK’s biggest rock acts.

They’ve teamed up with Royal Blood for a new collaboration with their latest song, My Blood, which premiered on BBC Radio 1.

It follows long-term friendship between the bands, who toured together, and is the first single released from The Amazons’ forthcoming album, 21st Century Fiction.

The album, their fourth, is set for release in May, and explores a man in his late 20s struggling with unrealistic ideals of masculinity in a chaotic world, according to the band.

The Amazons’ lead singer Matt Thomson said: “Why do we carry on when the chips are down and all we hear is ‘stop’?

“My Blood is an exploration into why, when you truly believe in something, you can push yourself past the point of pain.

“It’s not something you can intellectualise, it’s something you feel. With age comes more responsibilities, obstacles, reasons to quit.

“But in ‘My Blood’ I wanted to illustrate a force out of our control, deep inside of us, that forsakes that rational thinking.”
