READING rockers The Amazons have released a new single, heralding a new age for the band.
Living a Lie, the latest release by the three-piece outfit, marks a new chapter in their history as they look ahead to 2025.
The track, produced by Pete Hutchings (Royal Blood, Gang Of Youths, Foals), is the first to single what the band says is a new sound built on their foundation of heavy-hitting rock.
It follows a year of transition for the outfit, which waved farewell to drummer Joe Emmett in 2023.
Last year saw them perform on the main stage at Reading Festival– something the band described as a “homecoming.”
This year marks the 10th anniversary of their formation, which they celebrated with performances at Benicassim; Rock For People, in the Czech Republic; and Victorious Festival in Portsmouth.
Frontman Matt Thomson Matt said: “Living A Lie is an ode to staring at the ceiling in the early hours of the morning–when little fictions turn into hard truths in the stillness of the night.
“We were working on a very different sound before Living A Lie.
“This song articulated a tone and a feeling that spoke to our lives in a way we hadn’t been able to access previously; an anxiety about the future and a frustration with the past.”
Living A Lie is now available to stream and download on streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music.
