THAMES Valley Police has partnered with a video call service to make non-emergency calls more accessible for users of British Sign Language.

TVP has partnered with SignVideo, an online interpreting service which will help those who sign to contact police services through British Sign Language.

It means that residents with hearing impairments will have better access to non-emergency services through the free Sign Video app.

Callers will be able to communicate in a video relay with TVP with the help of a BSL interpreter, available 24/7 either through a dedicated app, or through a web browser.

Thames Valley Police joins the likes of the NHS, the Department for Work and Pensions, British Gas, Childline, and Thames Water in partnering with the service.

More details about the SignVideo service, including how to use it and a list of services partnered with it, are available via: signvideo.co.uk
