Thames Valley Police investigating after body found in River Thames near Reading

Thames Valley Police are conducting an investigation into an unexplained death after a body was found near Reading yesterday.

The body of a 55-year-old woman was recovered by members of the public from the River Thames near Island Bohemian Bowls Club at around 2.18pm.

The woman was taken to hospital but died yesterday evening. Her next of kin have been informed.

Senior investigating officer Detective Sergeant Alexander Willis said: “Firstly, my condolences go to the woman’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

“We are investigating the circumstances of her death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.

“There is no threat to the wider public but please speak to a uniformed officer if you are worried or concerned.
