A LOCAL historian is hosting the latest in his series of informative walks exploring one of Reading’s most famous companies.
A brand new jaunt from Terry’s Reading Walkabouts will celebrate 200 years of Huntley and Palmers, telling the story of biscuits as they were during the time of the Roman Empire through to the present day.
Leading from the Town hall to the Museum of English Rural Life, the walk looks at the influence of the people in Huntley and Palmers, their effect on the town, on manufacturing, and on biscuits themselves.
The walk will be raising funds in aid of Terry’s chosen charities, family support charity Parents And Children Together and the Royal Berkshire Charity, which supports the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
Terry’s Reading Walkabout has been providing educational walks for more than six years, offering 16 different routes and subjects, and raising nearly £11,000 for local charities.
The walk will begin at the statue of Queen Victoria, outside the Town Hall, from 10am, on Thursday, January 19 and again on Saturday, February.
Guests are asked to arrive at least 10 minutes early, with a £5 donation on entry split between the two chosen charities.
