A TEENAGER has been jailed for three-and-a-half years for drug dealing in Reading.
Casey Rooney, 18 and from Haling Road in South Croydon, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday, June 30, after previously pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply between 60 and 70 wraps of heroin and cocaine – both class A drugs.
He had been stopped by police on the Oxford Road in Reading on Wednesday, May 19. A search revealed the drugs and a one-way ticket from London to Wokingham.
Rooney was charged the following day.
Investigating officer, PC Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson, based at Reading police station, said: “Through our Stronghold campaign, we proactively target and disrupt offenders such as Rooney, and seek to put them before the courts.
“Rooney has now been sentenced accordingly and he will have a period of time to reflect on his actions and the harm that these cause.
“Drugs cause untold damage in our communities and Thames Valley Police are committed to bringing to justice those involved in the supply and distribution of them.
“The public can also be vital in tackling drug crime by acting as additional eyes and ears. Anybody who has any information about drug supply can report this to Thames Valley Police by calling 101 or online.
“They’re also able to report 100% anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.”
