THAMES Valley Buses has celebrated Will Dawson being shortlisted for Unsung Hero at the UK Bus Awards in November.
Workshop Supervisor Will was shortlisted after a hugely impressive year helping to improve processes and performance at the bus operator.
Thames Valley Buses has explained that Will has completed numerous training modules which has helped both his professional and personal development.
They’ve said that his “thirst for knowledge and to better himself” has also extended to the company, as he has helped to keep buses on the road by introducing more stringent vehicle checks – and his “right first-time attitude” has helped to improve the company’s vehicle reliability.
Simon Fisher, Thames Valley Buses General Manager, said: “We are delighted for Will. He has come a long way since starting out at Reading Buses as an apprentice and has grown into his supervisory role here at Thames Valley Buses.
“He has worked diligently alongside our Engineering Manager to help improve lots of internal processes which have developed our engineering performance and led to many efficiencies. This, of course, means buses are more reliable for our customers and employees and helps us to provide a better service to the local area.”
“Whilst we all certainly appreciate Will at Thames Valley, we feel that he is a bit of an unsung hero, working diligently in the background to help improve the company and make us even better for our customers.
“As the local bus operator in the Windsor, Slough, Maidenhead and Bracknell areas, we are acutely aware of our responsibility to provide the best service to everyone from school children to commuters and tourists to concessionary pass holders.
“Will’s work certainly helps us live up to our aspirations.”
