INDIE darlings Sundara Karma have announced they are set to say farewell to the band after 13 years.
The Reading band posted to social media to announce that their next run of shows would be their last as the the four-piece outfit.
They will close out their time as a band with four final shows as part of their tour, subtitled Live for the Last Time, with shows in Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, and London in December.
While the band will be no longer, they have not waved goodbye to music for good.
The band said of the split: “This has been one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make, but after years of sharing our music with you all, we’ve decided it’s time to close the most significant chapter of our lives so far.
“We’ve been a band for over twelve years and we’ve experienced things we could never have imagined– this journey has been nothing short of incredible.”
They explained: “As we’ve grown, so have our hopes and dreams, and we’re ready to explore new things.
“It’s not goodbye to music—it’s just time for us to step away from making music as Sundara Karma.”
They added: “One thing that remains constant as we enter this new chapter is our friendship. We are, and always will be, the best of friends.
“The bond we’ve built over these years since starting the band as kids at school has only grown stronger, and that’s something we treasure as much as the music we’ve made together.”
Speaking directly to fans, they thanked those who: “Came to our shows, listened to our music, or supported us in any way—thank you.
“You’ve been with us through it all, and we’ll forever be grateful for the love, energy, and time you’ve shared with us.
“It may sound trite to say, but we truly couldn’t have done this without you. You’ve made this experience unforgettable.”
They signed off: “Loving you always and forever, Oscar, Haydn, Ally, Dom.”
The four-piece formed in 2011 after Oscar Pollock, Ally Baty, Dom Cordell, and Haydn Evans met at school.
They released their debut album, Youth Is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect, in early 2017, reaching 24 in the UK albums chart.
They followed with their sophomore album, Ulfilas’ Alphabet, which developed their sound further– an exploration which continued with their third and final album, Better Luck Next Time, released in October last year.
The band toured extensively, including appearances at Reading Festival, Glastonbury, and Latitude festival.
