The latest Summer Evening Series race card takes place at Newbury on Thursday, with a competitive seven-race meeting at the track.

Racing gets underway at 6.10pm with an apprentice handicap in class five before rounding off with a mile handicap, again in class five.

Read below to discover the latest betting tips for Newbury’s Thursday card.

The opener (6.10pm) sees ten runners head to the stalls for the five furlong handicap for apprentice jockeys in class five. Hurt You Never is back in form, having finished third at Newbury nine days ago and is taken to get the victory here stepping down in trip. Of her rivals, the consistent Split The Profit has placed six times this year and could be up there once again for trainers Mike Murphy and Michael Keady with blinkers being tried for the first time to get over the hump.

Race two on the card (6.45pm) is a novice stakes in class four for the two-year-old’s either just starting out or only having a couple of runs under their belts. There is a royal runner in as Handcuffed, owned by the King, makes plenty of appeal on paper for the in-form Andrew Balding yard. He will have top pilot Oisin Murphy on board for the two-year-old’s racecourse debut. Shostakova is one of the few who already has a run under their belt and could improve from a fourth on debut at Nottingham last month.

A six furlong novice stakes in class four is next up at 7.20pm, and King Of Bears looks the one to beat for trainers Paul and Oliver Cole. He was a decent seventh on debut in a maiden stakes over course and distance on his only run so fa,r despite not justifying favouritism. Ralph Beckett’s runners always command respect, and he sends Chelsea Embankment to Newbury off the back of a third of eight finish at Salisbury on June 16.

Race four on the card is an eight-runner handicap in class four over the seven furlong distance at 7.55pm, and Red Maids, who a fine course and distance second last time out, can go one better here for trainer Mark Rimmel.

The penultimate race on the card sees 12 runners head to the stalls for the one mile and two furlong handicap for three-year-old’s and upwards (8.25pm). The Andrew Balding-trained See That Storm has been a consistent type on the all-weather surface and is very unexposed on turf now switching to this surface, so is very much one to consider. Of his rivals, Outgun is off the same mark as when a decent fourth on his previous spin at Goodwood so can go close.

Finally, the card comes to a close with the class five handicap over a mile at 9.00pm, and preference in the finale goes to Hey Big Spender for the top William Haggas yard, fourth at Leicester last time out who should be open to further progress at Newbury.

Newbury selections – Thursday

6.10 – Hurt You Never

6.45 – Handcuffed

7.20 – King of Bears

7.55 – Red Maids

8.25 – See That Storm

9.00 – Hey Big Spender
