Walkers will be out in force this weekend to raise money for a worthwhile cause.
The Walk for Wards event for the Royal Berks Charity returns to Mapledurham House after a successful first event last year.
The organisers have tweaked last year’s routes and added a new 15km route, taking in the Hardwick Estate for a more challenging end the walk.
The Royal Berks Charity has been supported by Chancellors in Reading who have sponsored the event.
A spokesperson said: “Chancellors is delighted to work with the NHS to sponsor this fantastic annual event.
“Having been involved in last year’s event, we are very excited to see Walk for Wards grow in size and to be able to help raise even more funds for such a worthy cause.”
As an NHS charity, Royal Berks Charity relies on our supporters to help fund its work.
Martin Butler, community fundraising manager for the charity said: “Having walked around the new routes on the estate last week, we are really excited for people to join us.
“The event starts and finishes at the front of the beautiful Mapledurham House. We are inviting participants to bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds after the walk.”
The event features three routes of 5kn, 10km and 15km. Due to the terrain, the routes are not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Appropriate footwear should be worn, and dogs on leads are welcome.
Tickets are priced at £10 for all routes, which includes a finishers medal. Children aged under-5 and dogs are free.
The spokesperson added: “We are expecting this event to be extremely popular and are encouraging people to sign up to avoid disappointment.”
