ONE OF Reading’s venues is set to welcome some of the spookiest offerings from the town’s drag scene for a new series of shows this autumn.

Drag monarch Big Jay is set to dice with death for their latest run of showcases in the Salem Drag Trials, a horror-themed series of events featuring performers from in and around Reading.

The first of the shows takes place on Friday, August 16, when the first round of the competition series will explore horror icons, with regular judge Lentil Pulse and guest judge Mistress Lezmerelda Leathercrax.

Round two takes place in October, also judged by Lentil Pulse, who will be joined by Cairo Iman Ali.

The final round, themed around glamour, will see guest judge Amber Rose Turner join the panel.

Among the performers on the bill are dandy drag king Dorian Gay, relative newcomer Izzy A’Boy, scene stalwart Xena Morph, and Coventry’s Paris Syte, who is making their performing debut in Reading.
