A SALE of designer clothes on Saturday was more than a bargain – it will help women get in to work.
Charity Smart Works opened the doors of its London Street base so shoppers could buy pieces from brands including Cape Cove, The Fold, Moschino, and Diane von Furstenberg.
And while customers got a good deal, the charity got vital funds to help its mission to assist unemployed women as they seek to get back to work.
It provides coaching, support, and interview outfits to those it helps. So far, it has worked with 1,750 people and seen 69% of them go into employment within a month of their appointment.
Alex Williams, Fundraising Trustee, Smart Works Reading said of the sale: “It was the best place in Reading to grab really high-quality preloved fashion and some amazing new with labels bargains.”
