Reading FC boss Ruben Selles has admitted that he is ‘prepared’ for every scenario as the takeover saga rumbles on.
The Royals manager said that a deal for Rob Couhig to purchase the club from Dai Yongge is in the ‘final’ stages.
“My information is that the deal is in the final stage and is probably going to be done sooner than later, but we have been there before,” said Selles.
“It was a couple of weeks, then next week and it didn’t happen for some different reasons. My information is it’s the final stage, whether that is tonight or in one week I’m not sure.
“I believe in facts and the facts are it hasn’t happened so my job is to be ready for every scenario.
“I also prepare for those scenarios together with my technical staff if we can sign any players today, tomorrow morning or if we cannot sign any players. We try to be ready for every scenario.”
Selles also spoke about the situation regarding transfers and clarified what the club may be able to do to acquire players.
He continued: “If the takeover happens and we get the green light, we should have not only Femi’s wages but a little bit more budget to sign new players.
“We’re not talking about an extraordinary budget, there are restrictions and we are in a transfer embargo. We are very restricted in what we can do. There should be room for two or three new players.
“We have already made meetings with them (players) and explained the situation to them. The clubs are showing some comprehension and know if they find a better option they can go to another place but they know we are interested.”
When asked about any possible outgoings from the club, Selles responded: “Yes (there has been interest), but nobody is going. When we have a squad like we have being young and energetic, other clubs want to have them for their own but nobody is going.”
