Former Reading manager Ruben Selles, who took charge of Spanish side Real Zaragoza in October 2025, has been dismissed from his role as head coach after a disastrous run of results left the club rooted to the bottom of the LaLiga 2 table.
Selles, 42, inherited a team already in trouble but was unable to turn around its fortunes, securing just one win in his last 12 league matches and overseeing a run of poor form that saw Zaragoza slip further away from safety. Despite earlier hopes that he might inspire a revival, the club has opted to make a change with the relegation fight now in jeopardy.
The Spaniard has now been sacked by three different clubs since departing Reading to join Hull City in December 2024.
Alongside Selles, sporting director Txema Indias has also left the club as part of a wider restructuring effort aimed at arresting the team’s decline.
Zaragoza will now look to appoint a new head coach as they bid to climb off the bottom of the league and maintain their status in Spain’s second tier.
Despite doing an excellent job in extremely difficult circumstances with Reading, Selles will now have to try and rebuild his reputation as a coach having been sacked by three clubs in a little over a year.
