READING’S quackiest charity event is back for a third year, as the Reading Rotary Duck Race returns to the Kennet & Avon Canal at The Oracle Riverside.
The event sees hundreds of bright yellow ducks racing through the heart of Reading in aid of local charities.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Reading Abbey, the race invites members of the public to rent a duck for a chance to win £200.
Prizes are donated by local businesses, which will be up for grabs, and all funds raised will go directly to community causes across the Reading area.
Last year the race raised more than £5,000; organisers are hoping this year’s event will be even bigger.
Andy Briggs, Destination Director at The Oracle, said: “This is such a unique and joyful event for Reading and we’re so pleased to be hosting it once again.
“It’s wonderful to see so many families and supporters lining the canal, all backing a great cause. It’s a highlight of our events calendar.”
Peter Mason, President at The Rotary Club of Reading Abbey, said: “The Duck Race is fun, fast and raises funds for local charities.
“Every duck counts and every rental helps make a difference in our community–we’re proud to bring the event back for a third year with the fantastic support of The Oracle.”
The Reading Duck Race returns to The Oracle Riverside from midday to 5:30pm on Saturday, September 13.
