READING residents wanting to do the right thing with their real Christmas tree will be able to take it to recycling points set up across the borough early in the new year.
The aim is to make it easy for people to recycle the trees.
Once collected, they will be chipped and used for landscaping schemes.
Trees should have all decorations removed, and then taken to one of the following collection points: Albert Road Recreation Ground, Clayfield Copse, Hills Meadow, Rivermead Leisure Centre, Kensington Road Recreation Ground, Prospect Park, Meadway Recreation Ground, Palmer Park Sports Stadium, Whitley Wood Recreational Ground and South Reading Leisure Centre in Northumberland Avenue
It is also possible to book a slot at a re3 recycling centre and take the tree there, or for those who use the garden waste collection scheme, chop it up so it fits within the green waste bins.
The re3 Recycling Centre, in Island Road, Reading, will be open between 8am and 6pm over the festive period except on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day when it will be closed. Also, it will be open between 8am-4pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
