A PIVOTAL moment in a 17th century battle took place in Reading and it is to be unpacked in a new talk coming to the town next month.
On Sunday, December 9, 1688, troops loyal to King James II were driven out of Reading by the invading army of William of Orange. For more than 100 years after the event, Reading’s churches rang their bells in celebration.
Mike Cooper’s new talk will look back at the battle, the events of the Glorious Revolution and what sources are available to verify the information on the event.
The talk takes place at Reading Central Library from 2pm on Thursday, December 7. Organised by the Berkshire Family History Society, places cost £5.
