A READING woman has been charged in connection with an assault in Reading.
Michelle Townsend, 50 and of Edinburgh Road, was charged with a count each of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, of possession of a sharp pointed article in a public place, and racially aggravated intentional harassment/alarm/distress.
She was also charged with two counts of criminal damage to property valued under £5,000 on Tuesday, May 14.
It follows incident involving a woman in her 40s which took place on Oxford Road on Sunday, May 12, when, at around 4.10, the victim was assaulted.
The victim was taken to hospital but has since been discharged.
During the course of investigations into the incident, a police detention officer was racially abused and one of the search rooms was intentionally damaged.
Townsend has been remanded in custody and will appear at Reading Crown Court on Monday, June 10.
