Reading FC face their final League One game of the campaign up against play-off chasing Blackpool at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

While the Royals already secured their safety two games ago with a draw at Barnsley, their opponents need a win on the final day to have a shot at finishing in the top six.

Reading are in 17th spot on 50 points and can move up one place if they win and if results go their way.

Meanwhile, Blackpool are in eighth on 73 points and will need to take three points and rely on both Lincoln City and Oxford United not winning their matches to have a chance of making the play-offs.

Neil Critchley’s side have been on an excellent run of form which has seen them make a late push for the top six having won four of their last four matches.

The Tangerines have been victorious in their last four matches with wins over Cambridge United, Fleetwood Town, Carlisle United and Barnsley.

Blackpool’s top scorer this season is veteran striker Jordan Rhodes who has 15 goals in 29 games.

The 34-year-old, who is currently on loan from Huddersfield Town has a [prolific record in the EFL and has an exceptional total of 244 goals throughout his career so far.

Reading’s top scorer this season is Sam Smith who took his League One tally to 14 goals from 33 games with a successful penalty at Burton which makes him the eighth highest scorer in the division.

When the teams met back in September at Bloomfield Road, Blackpool ran out as 4-1 victors.

The Tangerines blew the Royals away with three quickfire goals before Rhodes sealed his hat-trick in the second-half as Ruben Selles’ side endured a tricky start to life in League One.

Reading may be without defender Tom Holmes who is recovering from an ankle injury and will be without skipper Andy Yiadom who is out with a knee issue.

Reading fans will be celebrating their survival and will be unveiling a flag in dedication of manager Selles.

Predicted Reading line-up: Pereira, Abrefa, Bindon, Mbengue, Mola, Elliott, Wing, Knibbs, Azeez, Ehibhatiomhan, Smith
