READING School’s annual House Music Competition is set to be a grand affair this year.
The event, which sees students prepare and perform music from a range of genres, contributes house points towards winning Reading School’s coveted House Cup at the end of the academic year.
This year the school has invited distinguished alumni, affectionately called ‘Old Redingensians’, to take to the stage to represent their childhood school House; East, School, West or County.
Among the returning contestants are those who have gone on to achieve remarkable success, having performed professionally at London’s West End and beyond.
The four houses have prepared acts ranging from Vivaldi to Bob Dylan and even Slovenian folk songs.
Some alumni are returning to represent their alma mater decades after graduating.
The Inter-House Old Redingensians Music Competition takes place as part of the school’s celebrations of its 900th anniversary, and coincides with the 90th House Music Competition.
The event will be held in the concert hall in the Reading town hall on Sunday, September 21, at 6.45pm.
Tickets cost £25 for adults, and £15 for concessions.
The school is using ticket revenue to support its Beyond 900 campaign, which contributes to redeveloping its expressive arts facilities, a new sports hall, and improved sixth form provision.
