READING has been named as the 7th most expensive area for office space rent prices, according to figures obtained by Peldon Rose.
The office interior design and build firm analysed data from Zoopla to rank locations for office space rent affordability.
The figures were broken down into price for space per square metre over a month and over a year, as well as the price of what would be needed per employee per annum.
London was broken down into boroughs and ranked separately.
Topping the list of most expensive regions outside of London was Bristol, which costs an average of £57 per square meter per month.
Derby ranked in close second priced at £56 per square metre per month, more than £15 more on average than the rest of the list.
Birkenhead ranked third at £39 per month, followed by Belfast at £35, Liverpool at £33, and Glasgow in sixth, also at £33.
Reading ranked seventh, costing an average of £28 per square meter per month.
This constitutes a cost of £340 per annum; and means businesses spend around £4,080 on renting space per employee.
This figure is based on the British Council for Offices recommendations of allocating between 10-12 square metres per employee.
Kingston upon Hull ranked eighth at £25 per square metre per month, Birmingham in ninth–also at £25, and Wolverhampton in tenth at £24.
Bradford was named the most affordable area to rent office space in the UK, with an average of £1,620 per year per employee.
This is more than £6,500 cheaper than the most expensive city Bristol.
