This week’s Reading planning round-up features two plans to convert offices into flats and advertisement plans for a new bar opening this week.
You can find out more about each application by searching the number on Reading Borough Council’s planning portal.
Offices into flats: PL/24/0876
An office will be turned into three residential apartments after plans were approved by Reading Borough Council.
Parts of numbers 28-30 on Queen Victoria Street will turn from financial services to residential use.
The ground floor is currently occupied by Skipton Building Society.
The unused first, second and third floors will be made into the flats.
Reading Borough Council approved the plans on May 30.
New advertisement plans: PL/25/0375
A new bar opening in Reading town centre has had its advertisement plans approved as it opens this week.
Boom Battle Bar is taking over the premises of Revolution de Cuba bar on Station Road, set to open on Friday, June 6.
The late-night bar, club and restaurant was one of eight sites to close nationally in January.
Now, a brand new bar with axe-throwing, crazy golf and beer pong is opening this week, serving street food, wings and burgers and a variety of alcoholic drinks.
The company already has 30 locations across the UK and one in Dubai.
Plans for an illuminated logo sign, a menu graphic and two awnings have been approved just in time by Reading Borough Council.
Office into flats: PL/25/0046
Progress is being made on plans for more than 100 flats in a former office building.
Great Bringhams Mead on Vastern Road, Reading, will become 110 residential units after plans were first approved in December.
The site is a three-storey office building surrounded by trees, to the north of Reading Station.
Now, amendments to the plans have been approved, involving changes to the internal layout of the residential units.
The amended layout would provide an appropriate means of escape to ensure compliance with building regulations.
The proposals do not change the number of permitted flats.
Care home plans: PL/25/0789
Plans for a residential home to be used as a care facility have been submitted to Reading Borough Council.
Willow Tree Group wants to convert 43 Lorne Street into the new facility.
It would be used as a contact centre for families with children in care.
It would have up to two residents, with one on-site carer.
It would be open from 9am to 5.30pm every day of the week, including Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Reading Borough Council has validated the plans on May 28 and a decision is yet to be made.
