A READING man has been sentenced to more than two years in jail for drug offences.
Fahad Malik, aged 39 and of Queens Road, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, namely cocaine and heroin, and one count of acquiring criminal property at a hearing at Reading Crown Court on Monday, October 21.
He was jailed for two years and three months at the same hearing.
It follows an incident on the Kennetside footpath at around 10.40am on Wednesday, August 7, when Malik was seen exchanging drugs by officers.
He was observed riding away from the scene towards Kings Road on a pushbike before returning, and then made off towards the A327, when he was detained.
He was seen discarding a grip seal bag containing 37 wraps of heroin and cocaine, as well as a phone, in nearby bushes.
He was detained for a section 23 search under the Misuse of Drugs act, which turned up amounts of drugs and cash in Malik’s possession.
A section 18 search of Malik’s home address was conducted, which found another bag which contained heroin and cocaine, as well as cash and drug paraphernalia.
In total, around £1,740 of drugs were recovered.
Mailk was arrested on the same day and charged on August 8.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Jon Nicholls, based at Reading police station, said: “We are committed to proactively target and prosecute offenders and our activity will be both visible and covert aimed at disrupting and pursuing offenders involved in the supply of drugs.
