A READING man has been handed a jail sentence for drug dealing following a hearing last week.
Calvin Shepherd, aged 39 and of Alexandra Road, was sentenced to two years in jail at Reading Crown Court on Friday, August 16.
He pleaded guilty to a count of being in possession of Class A drugs, namely cocaine, with intent to supply back in April.
It follows an incident on Friday, April 19, when Shepherd was pulled over while driving a black Vauxhall Corsa in Armadale Court, Reading.
He was detained and searched under the Misuse of Drugs act, whereupon officers found cocaine and a quantity of cash.
He was arrested on the same day, after which a number of mobile phones containing evidence of Shepherd selling cocaine were seized.
He was charged and pleaded guilty days later at a remand hearing.
The drugs and phones seized were destroyed and the cash has been forfeited.
Detective Constable James Packman, said: “Thames Valley Police remains committed to proactively targeting and prosecuting offenders and our activity will be both visible and covert aimed at disrupting and pursuing offenders involved in the supply of drugs.
“The information from the public around the drug supply offences in Reading plays an important role in developing intelligence into a proactive investigation.
