A TILEHURST man has been jailed after pleading guilty to a number of offences including burglary and fraud.
Carl Hunter, aged 42, of The Meadway, Tilehurst Reading, was sentenced to two years and five months’ imprisonment at Reading Crown Court on Thursday, November 28, after pleading guilty to a count each of burglary other than in a dwelling, burglary in a dwelling, theft from a shop, and fraud by false representation.
The convictions follow a number of incidents which took place back in July, when Hunter broke into a shop on Bath Road, Reading, and stole items which included scratch cards.
Hunter also took an item without paying from another shop on Gatehampton Road, Goring, two days later, when he also broke into a house on Reading Road.
He took jewellery and a bank card from the house before attempting to use the card he had stolen in a shop on West Street, in Reading.
He was arrested on October 22, following a police investigation, and was charged the following day.
Detective Constable James Clancy of Thames Valley Police said: “These are serious offences which have rightly resulted in a conviction and sentence for the offender.
“Hunter will now have plenty of time in prison to consider his unacceptable behaviour, which Thames Valley Police will never tolerate.
“We will continue to bring before the courts those who carry out offences such as this that have an impact on our communities.”
