A READING man has been jailed for nearly seven years following a Thames Valley Police investigation into a rape last year.
Catalin-Petrisor Luca, 33 and of Chesterman Street, Reading, was sentenced to six years and 11 months’ imprisonment in a hearing at Reading Crown Court on Monday, May 22.
He pleaded guilty to a count of rape at the same court back in February this year, following his arrest last November.
It follows an incident which took place in the early hours of Sunday, October 30, last year, when he led the victim, a woman in her 20s, down an alleyway off of Garrard Street.
He then raped the victim.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Amy Hennah, based at Reading police station, said: “Luca took advantage of the victim while she was drunk and vulnerable. I am pleased that he will now serve a considerable amount of time in prison.
“Thames Valley Police takes rape and sexual assault offences extremely seriously and will investigate robustly to bring offenders to justice.”
