A Reading lending library is asking the community to help it decide how best to expand.
Reading Library Of Things is asking people to complete a survey, to share their views, and to help it grow and improve its services.
The Reading Library of Things (RLOT) is similar to an ordinary library, but instead of books, it offers a range of household items for loan, such as tools for gardening or DIY.
With nearly 1,000 items available, the library has carried out 1,813 loans since it first opened in Caversham in 2024.
Since the opening of a second location at the Reading Bike Hub, it now has over 200 members.
Currently, however, membership income doesn’t fully cover the organisation’s costs, and it needs to expand further to enable it to be self-sustaining.
Organisers say that of word-of-mouth advertising is the best way to share the library’s services.
But they are also asking members of the public to complete their short survey to help them better understand what customers want.
In this way they hope to attract more customers, and to give them a better service.
People can complete the online survey via this link: docs.google.com
