NETWORK Rail has announced that like-for-like sales at Reading Train Station are up as they release quarterly figures.
While figures from April to July this year have seen sales rise in sales of around 10% across all 19 stations on the NR network, Reading saw a rise of 18%.
Meanwhile an overall rise in like-for-like sales of 5% across the network was doubled in Reading, which stood at +10%.
This means that Reading placed fifth in the network for sales growth in the first quarter, behind Londond Waterloo (39%), Clapham Junction (32%), Birmingham New Street (22%), and Liverpool Lime Street (20%).
Reading also ranked fourth in like-for-like sales in the same period, behind Liverpool Lime Street (23%), Glasgow Central (16%), and Charing Cross (15%).
All five Network Rail regions experienced growth in total sales, with Wales & Western region, which includes Reading, recording a 12% increase.
Annual NR retail sales for 2023/2024 surpassed £842m and were 2% ahead of 2019/20.
Network Rail has also cited figures from the British Rail Consortium over the same period which showed a decline of just over 1% in total sales.
