THE STORY of Woodley is the focus for the April meeting of The History of Reading Society.
The group will welcome Ann Smith, the author of a book about the neighbouring town.
In it, she tells how it went from being a village to a neighbour to Reading, with its own hidden history.
The book was created with help from U3A groups.
Ms Smith is a former Reading Library librarian and is currently the membership secretary of Berkshire Local History Association.
The event takes place from 7.30pm on Wednesday, April 17, at Abbey Baptist Church in Abbey Square, Reading town centre.
