LITTLE ones learning to keep afloat are in need of help, says a Reading swim school.
Puddle Ducks North Hampshire and Reading has seen huge demand for lessons after children missed out on nearly 18 months in the pool due to the pandemic.
The company is calling on residents to join its teaching staff, as it looks to expand by 25%.
Kirsten is a photographer who began her teaching career in May 2019 alongside her profession.
“Teaching fits really well around my photography business and I love it,” she said.
“The hours work really well around my photography commitments, especially being able to work mostly on Sundays as weddings are often on Saturdays. It is also great to have contracted hours in the week and throughout the winter when demand for photography often quietens down.
“I also love the water and teaching has allowed me to share my passion for swimming and water safety with young children. It is such a joy to see them learn to love the water and build their confidence with every lesson they attend.”
Jo Gribben, owner of Puddle Ducks North Hampshire and Reading said that little swimmers are jumping back into the water eagerly, and she is looking for enough staff to help them.
“We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate people to become swimming teachers, or swimming teachers looking for a more rewarding role to join our team,” she said. “The pandemic has caused a huge increase in numbers of children wanting to learn to swim.
“It’s alarming, but statistics show that nearly one million children could leave primary school in the next five years unable to swim due to Covid-19 disruptions. We are seeing massive numbers of enquiries, and are expanding our team to meet those requirements.”
Ms Gribben said that the company offers fully paid training periods and regular, guaranteed hours.
“There is nothing that compares to seeing happy children when they are swimming and learning new skills whilst having so much fun,” she added.
