Reading FC defender Andre Garcia is set to finalise a move to Belgian side Club Brugge, with the 18‑year‑old flying to Belgium this week to undergo his medical ahead of a transfer.
The England youth international, a product of the Royals’ academy, has spent the past two seasons breaking into the Reading first team but has seen his playing time limited this campaign.
Club Brugge, who regularly compete in the Belgian Pro League and European competitions, have reached an agreement in principle with Reading over the move. Garcia’s current contract at the Select Car Leasing Stadium is due to expire in June 2026, and the Belgian side are understood to have tabled a proposal to secure his services with a view to signing him before the window closes.
Sources suggest Garcia is due to travel to Bruges imminently to undertake his medical and finalise personal terms. A fee has not been officially disclosed, but reports indicate the move will provide Reading with compensation for the teenage talent rather than risk losing him on a free transfer later in the summer.
Garcia emerged from Reading’s academy and impressed during the 2024/25 season, making more than 40 appearances in all competitions. However, under new management this term his opportunities have been more sporadic, leading to speculation over his future.
For Club Brugge, the acquisition of Garcia is seen as part of a strategy to invest in promising young players capable of contributing both domestically and in European fixtures.
