Reading FC has confirmed the departures of first-team coaches Andrew Sparkes and Eddie Niedzwiecki from the club.

Sparkes joined the Royals as an assistant coach to manager Ruben Selles, but has now left the club.

Meanwhile, Niedzwiecki, who has worked at the club in various roles, leaves his current role as Director of Player Development as what has been described by the club as a ‘restructure of the club’s first-team coaching staff.

A statement released by the club reads: “Whilst both Andrew and Eddie were valued members of the first team set-up, ongoing financial challenges at the club meant changes in this department were necessary.

“Sparkes joined the club in the summer of last year, joining Rubén Sellés as Assistant Manager whereas Eddie Niedzwiecki rejoined the club in 2022 – having previously been Assistant Manager from 2019-2021.

“We would like to wish both Andrew and Eddie the very best of luck with the next chapter in their respective careers.”
