The English Football League (EFL) has confirmed that they have received ‘further documentation’ as the sale of Reading Football Club nears completion.
It was announced earlier this month that former Wycombe Wanderers chairman Rob Couhig had agreed a deal in principle to purchase the club from Dai Yongge.
The EFL have extended the deadline for Yongge to sell the club numerous times with the latest deadline being today (May 12).
A statement from the EFL says: “The sale of Reading Fc continues to progress towards completion, with the League having received further documentation over recent days.
“A further update will be shared in due course.”
The Royals fans have had to wait patiently as the takeover process nears two years since Dai Yongge first agreed to sell the club.
Since then, fans have been put through the wringer and have had to put up with points penalties, transfer embargoes, staff not being paid on time and left to wonder whether they would still have a club to support for years to come.
While the deal with Couhig has yet to be fully ratified, it is understood that the deal will still go through despite the delays.
