READING FC are due to appear in court on Wednesday, August 9 due to an unpaid HMRC tax bills.

It is believed that the Royals made a payment last week to HMRC, but are still due to make another payment of around £500,000 to clear their debt.

The club were served a winding up petition last month for the third time under the ownership of Dai Yongge.

If the debts are settled before the court date, the judge can dismiss the case.

Reading have still yet to formally announce the appointment of manager Ruben Selles or the signings of any new players with less than a month to go until the new season.
