READING FC manager Ruben Selles gave an injury update ahead of the Royals’ trip to Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

The Royals are still looking to break a run of 11 months without a win away from home in the league.

There was positive news regarding the fitness of striker Sam Smith and Mamadi Camara.

“Mamadi Camara and Sam Smith are training properly with us,” said Selles.

“He (Smith) should be ready to play a part of the game. It could be from the beginning, it could be from the bench.

“We still have another training session to go but it will be my decision if he will be a part of it or not.

“We have a couple of players who have been sick during the week, including Mama (Camara) but hopefully he will recover for the weekend.”

There were also updates on the situations regarding Amadou Mbengue, Tom McIntyre and Joel Pereira.

Selles continued: “He (Amadou Mbengue) is doing really well but is not ready yet.

“Joel (Pereira) is getting better, we don’t know if he will be ready for the game but we hope he will be during the next week.

“Coniah (Boyce-Clarke) is more of a long term injury, it will take between six to eight weeks.

“We have a situation with Tom McIntyre. He came back from the concussion and then after a period of time in training he got a muscle injury which we expect to keep him out for four to six weeks.”
