Reading FC interim boss Paul Ince says the club ‘need to make tweaks’ to the club’s set-up ahead of the new season.
Many fans believe that the club need to appoint a sporting director to help the club recruit and take the team forward.
“A lot of teams are going down that road (appointing sporting directors),” said Ince.
“The biggest thing in football is recruitment, it has to be.
“They are there to help and support, so I’m never against anything like that, it doesn’t phase me one bit so it would be great for the club if they want to go down that road.”
Ince admitted that the club do not currently have any scouts and has urged the club to make some tweaks to their set-up.
He continued: “It’s not my job to discuss boardroom level, but when you come to a club and you’ve got no scouts, every club should have scouts.
“You see things you could change but when you’re focused on trying to keep the team up, you put them to the back of your head.
“There are things that need to change. The infrastructure is there with the stadium and the training ground but there are tweaks that need to be made.
“It’s not all about on the pitch but behind the scenes.
“I don’t think the clubs got any scouts. Me and Al (Alex Rae) do all that.
“We have a recruitment team and it’s a tough gig to try and find players on free transfers and loan players.
“They’re working really hard behind the scenes and it all starts now. You can start thinking about getting ready for the start of next season because it’s going to be tough.”
