Reading FC manager Noel Hunt has confirmed that number one goalkeeper Joel Pereira is set to miss some action with a rib injury.
The Royals shot stopper missed out on Saturday’s trip to Cardiff City which ended in a 2-1 defeat, meaning Reading remain in the League One relegation zone.
Reading recalled young goalkeeper Tom Norcott from his loan spell at Woking last week which led to speculation that Pereira may have an injury.
Hunt confirmed after the defeat in Wales that he expects the goalkeeper to miss around three to four weeks of action with a rib injury.
Pereira had an exceptional season in goal for the Royals last season as the team narrowly missed out on a play-off place.
The 29-year-old played 40 league matches last season and is firmly the number one choice goalkeeper having started his Royals career as second choice initially when he joined in 2023.
Next up for Reading they host Northampton Town on Tuesday night as they look to plot an escape from the bottom four.
