Reading FC have been linked with a summer transfer move for Championship forward Jack Marriott and are said to be exploring a deal.

The Royals’ striker problems have been well documented and they currently have just one natural centre forward on their books, loanee Mark O’Mahony.

Noel Hunt’s side have made a tricky start to their League One season and have picked up just one point in their opening four League One matches. They have scored just two goals in those games which has left fans crying out for the club to dip into the transfer market in the final few weeks of the window.

According to FootballLeagueWorld, Reading are lining up a move for the 30-year-old forward.

Marriott currently finds himself well down the pecking order at Wrexham after they splashed out £10million to sign forward Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town last week.

Wrexham have plenty of depth in the forward positions including former Royal Sam Smith who they purchased from Reading in January.

Marriott, who joined Wrexham February 2024, has netted five league goals in 26 matches, including four goals in nine matches as they won promotion from League One last season.

He has a decent goal scoring record in League One and also in the Championship.

His most prolific season came in the 2017/18 campaign for Peterborough where he scored 27 times in 44 matches.

Marriott has played for a whole host of EFL clubs including Ipswich, Gillingham, Luton Town, Peterborough, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and Fleetwood Town.
