Reading FC legend Adam Le Fondre has signed for a new club, the 12th team of his career.
The 37-year-old has put pen to paper to sign for semi-professional side FC United of Manchester.
They were formed in 2005 and are England’s largest fully fan-owned club. They compete in the Northern Premier League.
Le Fondre has had a storied career, scoring plenty of goals throughout his time in professional football.
After making his name with Stockport County, Rochdale and Rotherham United, Reading paid around £350,000 to capture his signature in August 2011.
His time at Reading was a huge success as he helped Brian McDermott’s men to win promotion to the Premier League as the 2011/12 side won the Championship during his first season at the club.
Le Fondre netted 12 times that season, including a brace in an iconic match against promotion rivals Southampton late in the season which helped the Royals on their way to lifting the Championship title.
He became known as a super sub during Reading’s one year stay in the Premier League in 2012/13 and scored 12 top flight goals, most of which coming from the bench.
He then scored 15 goals in 38 games in his final season with the club in the Championship in 2013/14 before he left to join Cardiff City.
After spells with Bolton, Wolves and Wigan, Le Fondre had a five year stint in Australia with Sydney FC and totalled 56 league goals in 97 matches.
He then spent one season on loan at Mumbai City where he scored 11 in 20.
Following a one year stay at Hibernian, where he scored five goals in 23 games, the forward now joins FC United of Manchester.
