Reading FC surprised fans at the Purple Turtle pre-season social event by unveiling a new signing.

The Royals fans in attendance were treated to the announcement that winger Paddy Lane has joined the club from Portsmouth on a three-year deal.

Noel Hunt said:“Paddy is an exciting addition for us. He’s got great energy, can beat a man, and isn’t afraid to take chances in the final third.

“To play regularly in the Championship at his age speaks volumes, and we believe there’s even more to come. He provides real quality and gives us good options across all of our front positions.”

Lane played a total of 77 games for Pompey and netted 14 goals, including 12 goals as they won promotion from League One in the 2023/24 season.

The 24-year-old has also won two international caps for Northern Ireland.
