Reading FC club captain Andy Yiadom took another step closer to making a return to senior action after he featured for the under 21s side last week.
Yiadom has been out of action since April last year after picking up a knee injury which has troubled him for several months.
However, manager Noel Hunt confirmed that the full-back was getting closer to a return to the first-team, but admitted that he still has some more work to do.
Yiadom played in Reading U21s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa last Friday, coming off the bench for around 30 minutes of valuable game time.
33-year-old Yiadom has been in Berkshire since 2018 when he joined on a free transfer from Barnsley.
Since then he has gone on to make more than 200 appearances in a Royals shirt and will be hoping for more once he fully recovers from injury.
Forward Adrian Akande, who has featured for the first-team this campaign, also made his return from injury and marked it with a goal.
Akande has appeared 10 times this season in League One and has one goal to his name, which came in Reading’s entertaining 5-3 FA Cup win against non-league Harborough Town in the third-round of the competition.
