Reading FC Women’s captain Brooke Hendrix has departed the club to join Tampa Bay Sun FC.
Reports have circulated in recent days that the Royals may not be able to compete in the Women’s Championship next season due to financial concerns.
This could see the team drop down the football pyramid, with discussions currently ongoing with the Football Association.
The defender was awarded as Reading Women’s player of the season last campaign.
She took us club captaincy in February following the departure of Lily Woodham.
The 31-year-old now joins Tampa following a two-year spell with Reading.
